Velkommen Til Danmark!

Feel the coldness!

Denmark. I'm here. I'm actually in Denmark! I can't believe it! Last Sunday I was on the sunny and hot beach in Noosa- Now I am freezing my face off in snow-covered Denmark! From 32° to -2°, I'M LOVING IT!
It's so exciting to see no leaves on the trees and snow everywhere. Many homes have their own flagpole where the Danish flag is waving about too. It's honestly beautiful! I still think it's strange to hear people walk past talking Danish and there are MANY Sun-tan centres I've noticed too!!
Yesterday the sun came out for a couple of hours or so but it was warmthless- completely opposite to the Queensland sun! And it's not only the weather that I'm enjoying- it's the Danish food!!
I've been treated to popular foods I've missed since living in Australia and tasting them all again was amazing! My relatives look at me weirdly when I get excited over little things to them- such as rugbrød (the black/brown bread us Scandinavians only eat).
My favourite lunch: Rugbrød med leverpostej, ristede løg og rødbede
Danish Ryebread with pork liver paté, roasted onion and rootbeet ;)
Yesterday, I also got to see Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2011 live on TV!! This is the show that decides which song will represent Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest. It was an amazing show and we all had such a fun and cosy time :) I actually voted (5 times) but my favourite just missed out and came second :( But the winner was also good! And the songs have been playing on the radio all day again and again. I love how music I could only listen to on my iPod (in Australia) is played on the radio! Even Eurovision songs! Everything is still surreal to me at the moment. But I'm taking everything in and enjoying every moment!

I Made It To London!

'Ere is me self at the airport! Notice the gloomy cold weather in the back
So I finally made it to London!
I flew on an Airbus A380 which was MASSIVE and it took me to London safely and slowly. Today is Wednesday and I still haven't fully recovered from the flight. Having said that, I've been out and about, enjoying the sub ten degrees and rainy weather! I've been to a few English pubs, seen some much-loved relatives, seen the red double-decker buses, eaten cockles and eaten weetbix with HOT MILK!
I wish I could go more in-depth and tell you more but I really should get some sleep. Just wanted to let you all know I am alive and (somewhat) functioning!

Waiting in Singapore

Waiting at Singapore Airport
Here's a quick update from me in Singapore! Its been a looooong day. After saying goodbye to my family at the airport and going through security I got stopped by the border security thing ! That was so stressful as they took me into a interviewing room and questioned my passport/citizenship- exactly what I had feared!! They finally let me through but it was a painful 15 minutes not knowing whether I'd even get out of Australia! The plane to Singapore was longer than I had anticipated but listening to my music, eating my kitkats and watching TV made it less tiresome. I arrived in Singapore at 7:15pm and the city was beautifully lit up by the pink sunset. And then when I got here I discovered my connecting flight has been cancelled and so I had to go through the drama of getting transferred to another later flight. Urgh! I'm feel so exhausted. I'm so tired I can't think of anything funny comments to make! Nevertheless, I have to write that I am LOVING this new experience of being in a different country alone :)

The Day After Tomorrow

The route I will take next week. You can click it to enlarge
So today will be the last time I write until I arrive on the other side of the planet. I'm almost fully packed now, and just mentally preparing myself for the long trip haha :) I think I won't have any problems getting to Europe- just not sure what exactly to do at Singapore :S But I'm sure I'll work it out when I get there! Wish me luck! I think the most difficult thing about this trip is going without internet and Facebook for 3 days... I'm praying that the wireless internet at Singapore airport will work on my iPod Touch, otherwise I'll go insane. I've already packed a survival kit- a big bag of Kit Kats ;)

Anyway, the day after tomorrow is getting closer now, so I shall see you on the other side :)

I Will Miss You Australia!

It's not what it looks like...
An innocent goodbye to Yvonne from me and Kenny

So, now that I've said my goodbyes to my friends I realise how much I really will miss this place. Here's a list of the things I'll miss:
  • Sweating 24 hours a day (nothing more satisfying than a cold shower)
  • Bundabogans (no really, I will)
  • Beautifully sunny Queensland (especially the floods and cyclones)
  • Being tall compared to all the Asians and Australians living here
  • People making fun of my accent or word choice
  • Being able to speak a different language that no-one else understands
  • Lasagna della mamma
  • Fast-Food Pizza and TimTams
  • SBS
  • The night sky
  • Frau Pannzek ;)
  • My greatest/strangest friends that I've accumulated through the years
  • Some of the newest/coolest friends I've only just got to know
  • My weird family and my bed
I realise afterwards that I started off being sarcastic and then became more serious...
Anywho, I better start packing- only 3 days until I leave this country!

Hello There!

Today, there are only 10 days left until I leave Australia- It's getting closer!!
I leave Australia on Monday, 21st February at 1:40pm and arrive in London on Tuesday morning. I won't get to Denmark until the Friday as I will be spending a few days with my English relatives which I'm also looking forward to a lot. I haven't been back to Europe since I left- almost 9 years now! So I'm really really getting excited about it!

Lately, I've just been going out with friends- making videos, going walkabout, going to night-long parties and enjoying the sun and 30+ degrees before I step into the freezer! The last few days I've been saying goodbye to my close friends one by one which is of course sad but we will be in contact- thank god for Facebook!
As for this blog, well, I will (hopefully) keep you up-to-date with my journey so look forward to it!
       - and for all my friends who are actually going to be bothered to read my blog, don't worry I will be keeping it all in English ;)
Enjoy!
